One of the Best January 6, 2009 In my opinion `Twilight' is one of the most romantic, inspirational and passionate books I have ever read. At first I was put of by the whole `teenager falls in love with Vampire line' but I decided that I had to see what all the fuss was about. I am so glad that I did because this book is much more then a teen novel, it is deep, riveting, exciting and ultimately so completely absorbing that you feel like your there. `Twilight' truly allows you to escape the mundane with its action and mythical settings and legend but the most fulfilling thing about this novel is its love story. Despite the fact that Edward Cullen is a Vampire and despite the fact the Bella Swan is a slightly awkward, clumsy teenager - because it is written so beautifully you never question their love. He adores her in a way that is unrivaled. To compare them to Romeo and Juliet seems silly because Romeo and Juliet have got nothing on Edward and Bella. Meyer's writing is truly touching without being gushy - I think this is because the sexual tension and passion between the two teenagers is so intense - it's thrilling to read. There love is ageless and makes the reader long for someone who will love them like that - the sore point of course is that Edward and Bella couldn't be real because there love is too perfect. I love what they have because they are untouched by society - they don't let the world and life interrupt what they have. I would agree that this novel is better suited to females because Edward is amazing, but I disagree that this book is simply for teenage girls - It is for woman as well. This book is the perfect escapism - but be warned you won't be able to put it down. Edward is the most convincing, thrilling and loveable character in fiction, Romeo is but half the man he is.
TWILIGHT (TWILIGHT SERIES) STEPHNIE MAYER January 5, 2009 WOW where do I start? ...............
I'm not really much of a reader as can't usually find anything I like and I know people say (NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER) But i'm affraid I am one of thoes people :( Anyway I got told that I should give the book a go, so I did, and now I can't get enough of it, and I want to carry on, it was such a fantastic read, i've never felt so sucked in. there is such a mixture of feelings while reading it, (well in my point of view) there's is fear, sadness, happyness, and much more So enjoy Happy reading x
waaaaay tooooo good January 4, 2009 This book was amazing! I always found it corny when a person says that a book is too good to put down but this time I finally see what they were talking about. This book was funny, erotic, thrilling and slightly sad mixed all together to give you such a feeling when your reading this that you wish so bad that you were Bella her self.
One of the best I have read in a long time - no spoilers. January 4, 2009 I have just finished book 3 and it has taken me 4 days to read all 3 (Sad really) I am not usually a fan of these type of books as I am usually Horror/Sci-fi and Fantasy (Laurell K Hamilton, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Angelea Knight also many more but they are the fav's),but as this was a Christmas present I would give it a chance and the film has come out and looks good. I started it and immediatley bought 2 and 3 when I had finished Twilight but have had to order the last in the series and am probably going to have to re-read so that I dont forget how brill this series actually is or have no finger nails left.
It is very addictive so make sure you have enough time to finish the book once you pick it up and be prepared to want to read the whole series though I am a bit of a bookworm.
Be prepared to be addicted! January 4, 2009 After seeing this movie at the pictures (and loving it) I went straight out and bought the book. Not initially aware it was aimed at teenagers I settled down and read it cover to cover, unable to put it down.
Nobody would be more surprised than me that I enjoyed it, thrillers and crime novels are my normal choice of fiction. The building relationship between Edward and Bella was seductively absorbing as the author drew me in. In my opinion the book is always better than the film and although I loved the film, I would urge anyone who hasn't read the book please do, it is rich with detail that you would otherwise miss in this lovely story.
Whilst I would never suggest that this is the best written novel of all time and reading the reviews it's certainly got it's critics, all credit to the author, it's certainly got something addictive and compelling about it. I've already ordered the rest of the series and can't wait to read them.
Teenagers may love it, but this particular adult did too!
