1 out of 5 stars Pure drivel   December 29, 2008

Yet again another attempt of a painfully poor, talentless Z list celebrity to cash in. Rather than create sympathy, it made me loathe this imbecile even more.

4 out of 5 stars I almost wet myself...   December 23, 2008
It's that funny. I laughed out loud SO loud, so long, so often.

It's Russell Brand. It reads like Russell Brand - in fact, you can't really read it without hearing his voice narrating and very funny it is too.

If you reading this book, the chances are very good you're already a fan, in which case, there is little to dislike in this oftentimes tragic, painfully honest, laugh-out-loud tale of a dysfunctional life of self-destruction with its ultimate triumph of fame and fortune.

The story is very warts and all and the warts, they are huge and hairy, but then most of the people who pick up this book would expect no less and they won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars The simplistically titled My Booky Wook   December 22, 2008
I've just finished reading My Booky Wook. Wow.

It's a beautifully eclectic mix of life experiences communicated poetically through the medium of language. Evocative, emotional and awfully educational (you don't learn about drug dealers, rehab, sex addicts, prostitutes and paedophiles every day) not to mention descriptively uproarious.

This raw and frank foray through his life is eye opening, poignant, side splittingly funny (I laughed out loud soo many times) and extremely well written . If you love him read it, and if you hate him read it twice ; )
Captivated until the final sentence! 5 stars ; )EVERYONE SHOULD READ `MY BOOKY WOOK'IT ROCKS!

4 out of 5 stars Witty and revealing   December 21, 2008
Sometimes I think that the Brand/Ross telephone call furore was a publicity stunt, but obviously in these cynical times, I like to keep an open mind. Anyway, prior to that, I hadn't taken a great deal of notice of Brand's career, apart from watching him on tv shows such as HIGNFY and other panel shows, but I did start to check out his work and the man's a genius. Brand's autobiography is a good, solid read, but in many ways it's difficult to stomach some of the stuff he's done. He covers his early life in surburban Essex with a light comedic touch, but the section when he begins his foray into the seedy world of drugs and illicit sex is a revelation, even though I was aware that he's now a reformed addict. You do get the impression that he's very ego-centric and his addictive personality has excused a lot of his odd behaviour over the years, but don't let that put you off from reading this witty tome. I enjoyed it immensely and would recommend it for people who are interested in the orgins of famous people and like to find out how difficult it is to make a mark in the fickle world of showbiz.

5 out of 5 stars My favourite book to read whilst travelling   December 21, 2008
It's true you don't need too muych brain to follow the plot although russel's use of language is absolutely fantastic. It made me laugh and is written in a way that feels like he is talking to you. Fun fun fun
