Fairly EntertainingMay 22, 2002 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
To me, this book was full of contradictions, and vague second, and third hand story re-collections. I have no doubt the author has his sources, but I felt this book left too many questions unanswered. The majority of material is already well known to any Kylie fan. On the plus side, the photographs in the book are amazing, and for that reason I have given this book 3 stars.
Fascinating - essential reading for Kylie fansMay 7, 2002 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Not a biography in the traditional sense, this book examines, chapter by chapter, different aspects of Kylie's life and career to paint a fascinating picture of a pop success story, including some rather surprising revelations about her teenage years!
Sean Smith dispels some of the more cliched myths about Kylie (she's not such a 'girl next door') and explains how her ambition has driven her since childhood. Every aspect of her career is covered, from the Stock Aitken and Waterman years to her current cyber-disco incarnation, with many image changes in between. And the book takes a close look at her often troubled love life, concluding that her relationships have failed because career has always come first.
