5 out of 5 stars best cat book ive ever read!!   November 21, 2008
Under The Paw has to be the best book about living with cats that Ive ever read!
Full of funny little things that cats get up to, and i can relate to Tom as i have three cats of my own that all get up to mischief.

A good fun light hearted book that will make you smile, but i warn you, you wont be able to put this one down once you start reading it!

Sharply observed and eloquently written, very funny, sometimes sad and totally unputdownable! A must read book for all cat lovers everywhere. I agree that you have to slow down towards the end, you just dont want it to end. The book draws you into their life, I just wanted to pack a bag and go and stay with Tom, Dee and these adorable kitties just for a while...
Cant wait for the sequel, bring it on, Tom.

Finished this last night and would definitely recommend it to anyone who has had the pleasure of sharing their life with a cat. Funny observations a lot of which I could realte to although I only have the 2 cats (for now....) Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Truly a book about cats, rather than another auto-biography in disguise   August 23, 2008

Being a lifelong incurable cat adorer, I am always on the look out for books about the feline species. However, most specimens I have tried so far have been either too brief, boring, or more often than not merely the authors' autobiographies in diguise, with more of the books being spent on themselves than on the main subject in question, i.e. cats.

Tom Cox's book, however, fitted the title and my requirements perfectly, and was the first book on cats I had picked up and read from cover to cover in a while. You could see his devotion to the species leaping out from every line, every page, every chapter. Every single one of his cats took on their own character and was given their own space. He even managed to make me fall in love with the malignant sounding 'The Bear' by the end of the book, which was no mean feat considering this was a creature that initially sounded like the cat from hell!

Finally, not only did this book fulfil all my criteria of what a cat book should be like, I thoroughly loved the style, wit and humour with which it had been written. Truly a cat lover's book - are there any more coming??
