3 out of 5 stars A handy book for beginners to have around   October 17, 2000

This is a fairly basic book but does give some excellent advice, particularly on lambing presentations. Having farmed sheep now for 5 years, I feel this book tends to cover the 'nice' side to sheep farming and often doesn't get down to the nitty-gritty. However, having said that, when I first started to farm sheep I hardly put the book down as there was always something I wanted to know. It really is an 'introduction' and within 2 years I felt I'd 'outgrown' it. One of the best features of the book is that it is presented in wipe-clean hard back, which is great because the times you'll really need it are the times when you're covered in mud and blood ! For the beginner, it's a 'must-have' for lambing time. Happy farming !
