An excellent book!July 26, 1999 I will always find Snow Dog to be my one and only favorite book. It is a facinating book and I wish that the books of Jim Kjelgaard would be more widely known and read. I think it is a shame that Jim Kjelgaard' s stories are not well known, or even he is. I just would like to say that I think his books are the best.
Still a fave 8 years laterJanuary 29, 1999 I originally started reading Jim Kjelgaard in grade school; now i'm 19 and Snow Dog and Wild Trek are two of my all time favorite books. I probably wouldn't read as much as I do today if it hadn't been for this author. He probably also has something to do with my fascination with Canada.
It was a great book!January 10, 1999 Snow Dog was a wonderful story of a dog's loyalty and courage in his final battle with his long-time arch enemy, the Black Wolf. Kjelgaard was at his peak when he wrote of the inspiring life and love of Link Stevens and Chiri.
Wondeful book!December 28, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is great for anyone who enjoysreading about outdoor life. It's like achance of experiencing these wonderfuladventures without leaving your home.A wonderfully detailed book for all ages.
A timeless tale of wilderness and loyaltyOctober 5, 1998 I noted one reviewer who was 51, and another who was 10. I too am 51, and probably first read Jim Kjelgaard's books when I was between 10 and 13. They engendered a love for reading and for the outdoors which I've never lost. My first one was Lion Hound. Perhaps my favorite of all the dogs in all the books, however, was Chiri, both in Snow Dog and Wild Trek. Snow Dog still ranks as one of my favorite books. I read it some months ago, for the first time in at least 30 years, and although it is a bit of a child's book, I still enjoyed this story and the nostalgia of re-reading it. I am pleased to see young readers still become captivated by it. I must have read every book he wrote when I was young and they were readily available in the libraries. It's a shame they aren't in print anymore. This is a simply spectacular book. Chiri, the Black Wolf, Link Stevens and the Gander. I remembered these, and most of the story, before I re-read the book. It is truly unforgettable.
