5 out of 5 stars Extensive and helpful   November 11, 2008

I bought this book when I went into super nerd mode about training my dog and wanted to know as much as possible.

It has taught me more than I expected it to. Using plenty of dogs in the photos, you can recognise subtle signs in all breeds. Some books like this show aggression with a picture of a terrier etc with full baring teeth. This book would show you the more subtle signals that appear before this point.

Another very useful feature is body language dogs use with each other and not just with humans. Overall, it was well worth the money

Haven't managed to get all the way through this book yet as there is so much in it! Loads of really interesting photos for you to study, and not set up photos - just dogs going about their daily business and the author telling you what's really happening in the photographs. There's also plenty to read in it too. It's a big chunky book which gives you a good insight into dog behaviour - well worth the money.
