An A-Z guide of excellence!September 3, 1999 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have now officially read all three of Dr. Dodman's anecdotal and informational works, and it is astounding how much he can compile into his books and still keep them so highly entertaining. This A-Z guide covers everything from aggression to zoonosis...literally...and each chapter delves into a new problem. Together, these chapters form an encyclopedia that virtually anyone can use to analyze their puzzling pets. A great read! Highly recommended!
Every pet owner should read this informative book!!March 24, 1999 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is an easy-to-read, yet very informative book which details problems every pet owner will encounter, particularly those whose pets exhibit behavior problems. The first part of the book details the problems and an appendix gives suggested behavioral approaches to "undo" these problems in a pet. I have a "fearful" dog, who after reading this book, was taken to a veterinarian for a hypothyroidism test. It seems this may play a BIG part of this personality problem and medication may help control it. We would never have known this without reading this helpful book! Thank you, Dr. Dodman!!!
"As a client of Dr. Dodman, this book reinforced his lessons!March 24, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Dr. Dodman's entries concerning, clicker training and halter collars to reinforce positive canine behavior and to put the owner in control of his/her dog with kindness and respect for the dog sends a message home to any handler who believes that rough training changes a dog's behavior to anything but aggression! I have read "Dogs Who Love Too Much," and find "Dogs Behaving Badly," to really reinforce everything that I believe about modifying canine behavior! Thank you, Dr. Dodman for sending the message so eloquently,"positive reinforcement!" This book is a must read for everyone who works with dogs or who owns a dog!
