A wealth of knowledge in drab packaging...October 5, 2007 33 out of 34 found this review helpful
This is quite a comprehensive book about cat genetics, and has a lot of facts and information, which makes it invaluable. However it is a very dry read and although the book seems to be the only one of it's kind, it would have been better if more diagrams were used especially when describing mitosis and meiosis.
Colour photographs may also have broken up the heavy going chapters and given the reader a little light respite whilst learning about this heavy going topic. I would still recommend it as something every breeder should read at least once.
Cat Genetics - an easy way to learnFebruary 20, 2003 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
I found this book both fascinating and rewarding to read. I am no scientist - but wanted to breed better cats - and needed to understand how genetics worked. This book gave me a great start. It explains cat genetics in a 'gentle' way - taking you through step by step - so by the end of the book you feel like an expert. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to breed cats, especially if they want to understand all the complexities of coat types and colour.
